Amigos del Pandeño A.C.

Amigos del Pandeño A.C., founded in 2008, is a local non-profit conservation organization based in Julimes, Chihuahua, Mexico. Its mission focuses on protecting the region’s natural heritage, especially the micro-endemic aquatic species found exclusively in the El Pandeño hotspring. By supporting scientific research and maintaining a Vital Signs Monitoring Program, the organization generates essential data that guides decision-making and resource management. This work is critical for safeguarding one of the most biologically unique freshwater systems in northern Mexico.

Through collaborations with national and international NGOs, academic institutions, government agencies, and private partners, Amigos del Pandeño has developed a strong, science-based conservation model. The organization facilitates adaptive management strategies, capacity-building programs, and environmental education initiatives that support both the local community and ecological resilience. Their work extends beyond species protection, addressing broader watershed governance and advocating for the implementation of environmental flow regimes in the Rio Conchos Basin.
